I love lists. And do you know what I love even more than lists? Halfway lists. To celebrate the halfway point of 2011, the editors at Amazon.ca have announced their favourite books of the year so far. The Chimps is #5 in the Canadian category, and #4 in overall non-fiction! Can't wait to see how we fare in the end-of-year lists.
Any author will tell you how happy it makes them when the person interviewing them has obviously read the book cover-to-cover. Last Sunday, I was interviewed by Allison Smith, the summer host of CBC"s The Sunday Edition, and Allison had prepared the most thoughtful, intimate set of questions I've ever been asked about The Chimps. Both Allison and producer Cate Cochran had read the book, and I thank them both for engaging so deeply with the material, because the result is my favourite interview yet. Have a listen for yourself and let me know what you think.
Last night, The Chimps and I were on national television again, this time for a thought-provoking, full-length interview on Strombo (aka, CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight). We taped the episode six weeks ago, and I was interested to see what made the cut and what didn't. In studio, I did a killer impression of Tom the chimpanzee asking me to play. Apparently, my impression lacked a certain chimpness, because it didn't make it on air. Oh well... hoo hoo hoo, and all that... Watch the video.
